Our training offers
Local Care Home Manger,
- As a contracted residential care home in North East Lincolnshire, we strive to demonstrate compliance with all mandatory and statutory training and development. Focus is our chosen training provider and enables us to achieve this
- Training is mostly delivered face-to-face; however, Focus is flexible to meet challenges that may arise. Such as most recently during the pandemic offering recorded webinars and live Zoom sessions
- Additionally, training is delivered competently, and the trainers invest a lot of time to ensure the sessions are interesting and delegates are attentive in an effort to maximum information retention and inclusion
- I have found all the courses delivered by Focus to be of great benefit and the staff evidently learn so much by interacting with employees from other organisations, I would certainly recommend and use Focus again
- The online training booking system is simple and easy to follow. My experiences of accessing training via Focus has only ever been positive.

John’s story with us…
- I’ve worked in adult social care for almost 12 years having first joined in 2009 as an Integrated Advice Officer working within the Single Point of Access answering calls from the public and professionals; providing advice and information, processing referrals for assessments and support where needed
- Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to apply for, and be successful in obtaining, one of four places available on the Social Work Degree course in 2010. This was a great achievement and it motivated me to undertake this studying part time whilst working over 4 years
- Upon graduating from the degree course, I was successful in applying for and obtaining a Social Work Practitioner post within Focus.
- Focus is now a Social Work Practice/Enterprise, Community Interest Company (C.I.C) and, as a member, I am very proud to have been part of and contributed to the development and successful vision and values of the organisation. I even was nominated by the members to become a board member to represent the employee views!
- Recently, since 2016 I joined a newly formed Hospital Discharge team and continued my development by studying as a Practice Educator taking on my first students; enabling me to continue to develop further as a practitioner up to Level 2. This led to me successfully applying and being appointed into the post of an Advanced Practitioner. Taking on new responsibilities in relation to supervision, operations and practice within the team
- In addition, I am also working, voluntarilly, with British Association of Social Workers (BASW) to offer a different perspective to my practice and forging links between the two organisations, from what opportunities and experiences working within Focus has given me, and what is constantly arising to do.
