Earlier this year Focus held a workshop to hear the views of unpaid carers and the local services that support them. We also sought the views other carers who could not attend the workshop via email and telephone.
Since then, we have been hard at work. We have made some important changes to how we relate to carers as an organisation. We have changed and reduced the information we ask when a carer firsts contacts Focus, we hold bi-monthly drop-in sessions at the Carers’ Support Service and we attend a range of advice and information events were we Focus on identifying carers and ensure they know that support is available.
The Carer Workshop Summary and Action Plan is a summary of the work that is already taking place and of the work that is still to be done.
Focus will continue to work hard to strengthen our commitment to carers and we hope that the actions outlined here will help demonstrate that commitment.
We want to thank everyone who gave their time to share their stories with us. Your help was invaluable in increasing our understanding of your caring experience and how adult social care can support you.
