Today, Focus CEO Lee Mair, officially opened the new place based social work academy. The academy is facilitated by Focus in partnership with Navigo, Care Plus Group (CPG) and North East Lincolnshire Council.

The aim of the academy is to provide a structured and consistent apprenticeship programme for adult social work in North East Lincolnshire. This includes, ensuring that all adult social work apprentices have access to high quality education, development and support regardless of which local partner agency they work for.

Lee explained that the community of North East Lincolnshire will be at the heart of the Social Work Academy and provides a great opportunity for Focus, Navigo, CPG, North East Lincolnshire Council and our VCSE partners to share ideas and best practice for the betterment of the social work profession.

North East Lincolnshire Principal Social Worker, John Allen echoed Lee’s sentiments and went on to say that the Academy will help the area to “develop a workforce that’s fit for our community, fit for purpose and future proofed as much as possible”.
