Today marks World Mental Health Day 2024.

The day aims to raise awareness of mental health globally. Established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, the day serves as a reminder of the importance of mental well-being and the need to break the stigma associated with mental health issues.

Each year, the day focuses on a specific theme, emphasising different aspects of mental health, from access to care and the rights of those affected, to the impact of the pandemic on mental well-being.

This year, the focus is on an issue affecting the modern workplace: burnout. In a fast-paced world, more employees are experiencing chronic stress that leads to burnout.

Burnout doesn’t happen overnight. It’s gradual and can take hold before you are aware of it. It doesn’t just affect individual wellbeing; it has far-reaching consequences for workplaces too.

World Mental Health Day encourages individuals, organisations, and governments to take proactive steps to promote mental health education, ensure better support systems, and foster an environment where people feel empowered to seek help.
